Dubai restaurant offers up to 75% off based on whether you dine with wife or girlfriend

A restaurant inside Dubai's Barcelo Hotel in Al Jadaf has built its latest promotion around an unusual variable: not what guests order, but who they bring with them. Ann'a by Jimmydixs is running a weekday deal where the discount on the bill climbs depending on the dining companion — 50 per cent off for a family outing, 55 per cent for a wife, 60 per cent for a girlfriend, and 65 per cent for any group of more than two people.

The offer applies Sunday to Thursday, 6pm to 1:30am, and throws in complimentary welcome drinks, snacks, live music and shisha on top of the sliding discount.

Sucheta Sharma, founder and managing director of Boho Group, which runs the restaurant, says the promotion wasn't built as a gimmick but grew out of watching how people in Dubai actually socialise — juggling work, family, and increasingly selective nights out in an uncertain economy. The idea, in her words, was to make it easier for people to go out "whether that's with family or... other company."

The premise — and its cheeky implication that a combined discount of up to 75 per cent is technically possible — has helped the campaign spread quickly online, drawing attention as much for its concept as for the size of the savings on offer. Whether any guest will actually attempt to stack the full 75 per cent combination remains to be seen, though the restaurant says it's ready if someone tries.
